Human-X

Science, Technology, and Innovation for Human Well-Being.

Human-X is a scientific program of CorpoLaguna’s NOVA Research Center, operating under the Scientific Division. It focuses on interdisciplinary research and the development of scientific and technological solutions that enhance human well-being, autonomy, inclusion, and quality of life.
We integrate expertise from biological sciences, engineering, biomechanics, ergonomics, design, behavioral sciences, and health sciences through collaboration with academic institutions, specialized centers, professionals, and communities.
Our approach promotes participatory, ethical, and human-centered research to understand needs, identify opportunities, and develop accessible and innovative solutions for diverse contexts and populations.

Our Research Areas
We connect disciplines and expertise to advance our understanding of human well-being and develop solutions that address real-world needs.

Biomechanics, Ergonomics, and Human Movement
Research on movement, posture, physical interactions, and the biomechanical and ergonomic factors that influence human functionality, performance, and well-being. This includes the study of mobility, injury prevention, environmental adaptations, and the development of solutions to improve interactions between people, objects, and spaces.

Assistive Technologies and Inclusive Design
Research and development of devices, tools, adaptations, and technological solutions aimed at improving accessibility, autonomy, and participation for persons with disabilities. We promote universal design, user-centered innovation, and the evaluation of assistive technologies in collaboration with users, caregivers, professionals, and specialized institutions.

Science and Technology for Adaptive Sports
Interdisciplinary research applied to adaptive and Paralympic sports, with an emphasis on biomechanics, ergonomics, equipment, accessibility, and the optimization of sporting conditions. This research area encompasses the study of assistive devices, sports equipment, functional adaptations, and assessment tools that contribute to athlete safety, participation, and performance.

Human Biology, Genetics, and Epigenetics
Research on biological, genetic, epigenetic, and environmental processes related to human development, adaptation, and physiological functioning. In collaboration with institutions and health sciences professionals, we promote interdisciplinary studies aimed at understanding specific biological conditions and exploring potential strategies to support well-being and quality of life.

Nutrition, Metabolism, and Well-Being
Interdisciplinary research on the relationships between nutrition, metabolism, environmental conditions, and human well-being. This research area seeks to advance scientific knowledge and evaluate nutritional strategies and approaches to supporting well-being, particularly among populations with specific needs, through partnerships with specialized institutions and professionals.

Accessibility, Inclusion, and Participation
Research on physical, technological, communication, and social barriers that affect the participation of diverse populations. We promote participatory methodologies, accessibility assessments, and the development of solutions that foster inclusion, autonomy, and equitable access to educational, sporting, cultural, and social opportunities.

Scientific and Technological Capabilities
We integrate research, design, and technology to develop human-centered solutions.

Our capabilities and areas of expertise include:
- Design and implementation of interdisciplinary research on human well-being, disability, and accessibility.
- Studies of ergonomics, human movement, and biomechanical conditions.
- Assessment of functional needs and accessibility barriers.
- Research and conceptual design of assistive devices and technologies.
- Development and experimental evaluation of adaptations for daily activities and sports.
- Applied research on equipment and sporting conditions in adaptive sports.
- Interdisciplinary studies of biological, genetic, and epigenetic processes.
- Research on nutritional, metabolic, and environmental factors related to well-being.
- Design of participatory methodologies and human-centered research processes.
- Development and implementation of research, technological development, and innovation projects.

These activities are conducted through interdisciplinary teams and partnerships with specialized institutions. Studies involving clinical care, healthcare procedures, or research with human participants will be carried out in accordance with applicable ethical, technical, and regulatory requirements.
